America thrives on deliberation
In the last twenty years political partisanship has increased dramatically. Not only do Republicans and Democrats disagree on values, they also see each other as existential threats to our democracy. Fortunately, the Constitution provides us with the vocabulary and structure to disagree well. Unfortunately, fewer Americans know how to think constitutionally.

According to Chief Justice John Roberts, the judiciary teaches civics by providing reasons for their decisions. We teach each other when we use the Constitution to support our claims.
