Known as the Queen of Rights, the First Amendment protects our most basic rights. Thanks to those freedoms, Americans are able to protest, assemble, and say what they will about public figures. But should those public officials have the same freedoms? This lecture will consider First Amendment freedoms in terms of political speech. If we start to hold public officials accountable for spreading misinformation, as some law professors argue, do we lose the foundation of our liberal democracy?
